Ambergris Cay is an uninhabited private island in the increasingly popular Turks and Caicos chain. That condition will soon change. Here, along untouched white-sand beaches and above clear blue Caribbean waters, the Turks & Caicos Sporting Club at Ambergris Cay is rapidly taking shape.
In order to preserve the delicate ecosystem of this private British protectorate island, this private equity sporting club will allow no gasoline-powered vehicles on the island. Yet the members who build homes here will be afforded every convenience and luxury. Proposed amenities include a 100-slip deepwater marina with capacity in excess of 200 feet, a 5,200-foot paved jet strip and customs house, an equestrian center, hiking and biking trails, a members’ lodge, a spa, a restaurant, and cottages to accommodate members’ guests.
Sporting activities abound in this beautiful corner of the Caribbean, some 600 miles southeast of Miami. The snorkeling and scuba diving here are among the best in the world. Sportfishing and bonefishing are excellent as well. Also proposed are tennis and squash courts and a 24-hour concierge service to accommodate every member’s request.
The club is managed by The Greenbrier Resort & Club Management Company. Reservations for waterfront homesites on this private 1,100-acre island are now being accepted. From US$500,000 to US$3,500,000. Inquiries to Peter Pollak
