High
above Manhattan’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Central Park
South is the Ritz-Carlton Tower, where only 11 private
residences share some of the city’s most spectacular
views and a central location just moments from many fine
shops, restaurants, museums, and other famous landmarks
of culture and commerce. Constructed in 1934 and completely
rebuilt in 1999–2000, the 35-story building has long
been a bastion of perfectly pampering service, with all
the attentiveness and discretion of a five-star hotel available
to hotel guests as well as owners in residence.
The
three uppermost floors of the Ritz-Carlton––a
full-floor apartment and the duplex penthouse above––can
be combined to create one premier residence with a panorama
that extends from all of Central Park to the entire New York
City skyline. Every moment of the day, every day and season
of the year, the vista here is spectacular––from
boats on the river and horseback riders in the park to the
shimmering city lights after nightfall.
On
the ground floor, a private residents-only lobby offers
two elevators as well as a service entrance dedicated to
the tower homes, including the triplex penthouse. One of
the largest and most luxurious private residences in all
of the city begins on the 33rd floor with a meticulously
finished gallery-like
living space dressed in herringbone wood and marble and
featuring soaring ceilings, incredible light, and indelible
park views
from five of its 10 rooms. Other highlights include a state-of-the-art
kitchen with an attendant breakfast room; a large master
wing with en suite media, dressing, bath, and exercise
rooms; and two guest rooms.
The
34th and 35th floors boast all new mechanicals, including
central air conditioning; approval for three woodburning
fireplaces; a glass atrium; and a 400-square-foot terrace
for the ultimate in alfresco entertaining. Construction
could include a grand-scale chef’s kitchen with a dumb-waiter
rising to the uppermost level. The penthouse’s three
bedroom suites could include a master suite with an office,
walk-in closets, a large bath, and a fireplace all its own.
A third woodburning fireplace could be located in the media
room or library. All-new oversized windows and 12-foot ceiling
heights add to the splendid dimension of this 5,400-square-foot
apartment. With the addition of the 33rd floor, the unit
would encompass approximately 10,000 square feet.
The
Ritz-Carlton experience includes a concierge, a doorman,
room service from Atelier, optional maid service, and private
Bentley and Mercedes service. A fully equipped gym and
a Clinique La Prairie Spa are on-site. A short walk away,
the
world-renowned shops of Fendi, Chanel, Gucci, Henri Bendel,
and Bergdorf Goodman attest to a Manhattan address that
is second to none. $41,500,000. Inquiries to Elizabeth
