Christie's Great Estatesfp_castellodireschio

Nine generations ago, the Bolza family ancestors left Milan and Lake Como to serve as bankers to the court of Vienna. Some 300 years later, Count Antonio Bolza, his wife, and five children returned to Italy and reestablished their roots at Castello di Reschio. The family's intention is to preserve Reschio in a manner no less meticulous than the restoration of a Piero della Francesca fresco. To this end, three generations of Bolzas live and work on the estate, overseeing every activity and amenity—from architectural renovation and interior design services to property maintenance and management, landscaping, sports and leisure facilities, and devout preservation of the land where St. Francis once lived.

The estate lies in a beautiful valley that has remained unchanged for centuries. The turreted castle of Reschio, dating to at least the early 13th Century, stands sentinel over a few dozen widely scattered farmhouses and outbuildings, olive groves, vineyards, and extensive oak and chestnut woods rich with porcini mushrooms and rare white truffle. Swimming pools are carefully integrated into the countryside, as are loggias, pergolas, terracesand stone walls built in the ancient tradition.

Of the 35 original stone farms and farmhouses, a limited number have been allocated for conversion into exclusive residential properties. Others have already been completed for their new owners. Most homes are renovated to the client's personal specifications; however, on occasion, a completed or partially completed home becomes available. All properties are spread widely apart on the 2,000 acres, allowing ample privacy for all.

Comments Princess Corsini of Florence, "This is country living in noble tradition." Owners here are indeed investors in the preservation of the cultural core of Italy. They are secure in the knowledge that the fields and hills around them will remain untouched for future generations. They are cared for and pampered in a low-profile environment dedicated to personal relaxation and indulgence. Castello di Reschio is indeed one of the most exclusive investment opportunities in Europe. Prices upon request.
